Moving Day - Uçhisar to Sekçuk

Woke up. Skipped breakfast. Mutlu picked us up and drove us to the airport. Bought a coffee, used the lounge. Boarded the plane. Easy one and a half hour ride. Land. Picked up by Suleyman in a Mercedes, (not as posh as the Mercedes in Uçhisar).

I was telling Lisa about my dream last night. I was fishing along with others. One guy caught a tiny fish, another caught a slightly larger fish, I caught a large trout. "Even in your dreams you win!" said Lisa.

We were discussing how private guides are the way to go. (Thanks to Holly Murphy!) It is personal. They are very knowledgeable. You bypass many possibly long lineups. This is no small matter when there is a tour bus or two or a cruise ship lining up.

The weather since we landed in Turkey has been great. It got warmer every day. Here we landed in 35C. We saw the remnants of rain a couple of days ago when we arrived at the caravanserai. The ground was a bit wet, and we heard thunder in the distance.

The Turkish flag used to have 3 crescents representing their kingdom on 3 continents. Since WWI, when they were left with 1 continent and a tad in Europe, they redesigned it to have one crescent.

Forty minutes after leaving the airport we arrived later at Hotel Bella. Across the street is St. John the apostle's basilica.

After checking in, went for a short walk, small snack, stopped at a cafe for backgammon and a beer, got some nuts, back to the room. There are so many storks in this town. Whenever you see poop on the ground around a pole, look up, the town builds stork nests. Very cool.

Dinner on the hotel rooftop to cap off the evening.

Final note, a question to you all. Are you paying attention? Until now, we have been nowhere near Greece, yet I've given you a photo of Zeus' Palace and the Acropolis... do you people think these are in Turkey? If so, I'll just repost my Greece pictures and save a lot of time.

<< Lisa is here dying laughing and suggesting I also publish some Mykonos windmills, because the windmills here are spectacular. >>. ( Ed. Still dying.)
